FSSAI standards require chocolate to be free of insects and other contaminants. Rumours stating that the FSSAI has allowed insects in chocolate manufacturing are false. Chocolate and its types are regulated by Regulation 2.7.4 of the FSS (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Regulations 2011. Checklist - Checklist of FSSAI Registration

• Basic Food License Registration: An application for this license is required when the business expects a turnover of up to ₹12 lakhs.
• State Food License Registration: Registration is required when a food business expects a turnover of ₹12 lakhs to ₹20 crores.
• Central Food License Registration: Registration is required when the turnover of a food business exceeds ₹20 crores. A central license is also required if the business deals with importing and exporting goods.

How to Register for FSSAI?

Operators of petty food businesses are required to apply for registration in Form A with the FSSAI. Within 7 days of receipt of an application by an authority, the registration should be provided, or the application rejected in writing.An FSSAI registration certificate contains the applicant's photo and registration details. When conducting food business, the certificate should be displayed prominently at all times.

• Step 1: The first step is to go to the FSSAI site.
• Step 2: On the right side of the screen, click on 'sign-up (for self-care portal)
• Step 3: You will be prompted to sign up. Please fill out your contact information. Fill in your contact information once the window opens
• Step 4: During sign-up, your email and mobile number must be active and valid, which means they must be in use
• Step 5: Choose a unique username that is not already registered
• Step 6: After filling up the form, click on register to complete the sign-up process
• Step 7: Once sign-up is successful, you will get a message account successfully created.' You will also get a sign-up success confirmation message on your mobile as an SMS and via e-mail
• Step 8: You now have an online account with FSSAI. This user ID is valid for 30 days, so make sure you apply online within 30 days, or this user ID will be disabled after 30 days
• Step 9: You have taken the first step to applying for an online License/Registration
• Step 10: When you are ready to apply for license/ registration, do your registration on the FSSAI site.
• Step 11:Open your page with your username and password. Fill in the details in the online application form. It will take some time, so be prepared to sit at the computer for a while and have necessary documents on your computer system beforehand, like filled and signed Form B.

License Renewal by FSSAI

Persons or entities holding an FSSAI registration or license may apply to renew their license no later than 30 days prior to their license expiration date. A late fee of ₹100 per day is charged on any FSSAI renewal application filed after the expiry date. Finally, if the food business license has expired, the Food Business Operator must cease all business activities.
