According to Section 4 of PSARA: No private company or individual can commence the business of Private Security Agencies without holding the license or permission from the authority. Though the Ministry of Home Affairs administers PSARA, the licensing authority remains in the hands of State Governments.
All Security guards should undergo proper training in the prescribed subject. A security guard should obtain a minimum of 120 Hours of Training before starting work as a security personnel. However, special relaxation and flexibility are provided to the ex-servicemen in these training programs.

What is the validity of the PSARA License?

Today, private security agencies cater to both individuals and businesses. The Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act, 2005 (PSARA) regulates all private security agency operations in India. In various sectors, such as banking, information technology, finance, industries, and so on, private security agencies offer security services.PSARA, 2005 was introduced to establish a certain standard of professionalism in security services. It is illegal for agencies to operate without a PSARA license. In addition to providing security services, these agencies offer training for security-related careers.

Step 1: Organise All the Necessary Documents
To expedite the licensing process, documents must be collected and sorted appropriately. A clear and legible copy of the papers about the various registrations and the promoter's and directors' details is crucial. Step 2: Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) With Training Institute
An applicant must enter into an MoU with the training institute to provide training to its candidates on the home page of https://psara.gov.in/. An agency with training will have greater appeal, and it will be able to hire high-quality employees. The agency offers ex-servicemen a certain amount of relaxation and exemption regarding training.
Step 3: Filing of the Application
A PSARA license application (Form-I) must be filed with the respective state authority once all the necessary steps have been completed. Form-II should also be enclosed for verification of the applicant's antecedents. An affidavit must accompany Form-I in Form-III.
Step 4: Police Verifying
Verification by the police is the next step. Verification will take place after Form-I has been filed. If the agency is a partnership or a company, the respective directors will also be required to provide police verification.
Step 5: Licensing of PSARA
After verifying the application with the NOC from the police, the authority will examine the application and either grant the PSARA License in Form-IV or reject it.
Security agencies train private security guards at offices, malls, and other establishments. Before a private security agency can operate, it must obtain a PSARA license. Through Zolvit, you can avoid complex jargon and confusion.
An establishment that provides and trains security guards is regulated by the Private Security Agencies Act, 2005. Any agency that conducts these activities without obtaining the requisite license would not be permitted to operate under the act.
Therefore, the applicant must apply to the state where they reside. Licensing would be provided by the state authority. A state's application requirements would differ from another state's. For this type of license, there is no central scheme.
The PSARA license depends entirely on the state authority and how quickly it processes applications. Ideally, the application should be granted within 60 days of receiving it.
