                  Did you know?

                  1. Over the past two years, over 1 crore MSME registrations have been recorded on the government's Udyam portal.

                  2. The government may adopt an MSME Code that will ensure uniformity in state and central regulations for micro, small, and medium businesses.

Overview - An Overview of Udyam (SSI / MSME) Registration

The term MSME refers to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises. MSME industries are the backbone of the Indian economy, especially in a developing country such as ours. Growth in these industries leads to a flourishing economy in the country as a whole. Small-scale industries are also known as SSIs.

Regardless of whether the company is in the manufacturing or service industry, registrations can be obtained under the MSME act. The registration is not yet mandatory, but it is beneficial to get one's business registered because it offers a lot of benefits when it comes to taxation, setting up a business, credit facilities, and loans.

Benefits - Benefits of Udyog Aadhaar Registration

                  • 50% Subsidy on Patent Registration

Patent registration is expensive if you have created something new, an innovative product or business model, and want to patent it. MSME registration allows one to receive a 50% subsidy on patent registration. As a result of this move, more entrepreneurs will be encouraged to invent and innovate. The 50% subsidy can be obtained by registering with their respective industries.

                  • Collateral Free Loans

One of the biggest benefits of MSME registration is that collateral-free business loans can be obtained from banks and NBFCs. SMEs and MSMEs can now take various loans, including working capital and credit line loans, without collateral.

                  • Exemption of Interest on Overdraft

Overdraft facilities are available to MSMEs with good credit histories and good relationships with their banks. The interest on an overdraft facility is exempt for MSMEs by 1%. MSMEs could greatly benefit from this. Nevertheless, MSMEs should check with their lender as not all banks offer this service.

                  • Motivate Investors

Credibility and authenticity cannot be gained overnight. For an organisation to reap such benefits, it must comply with the law and maintain compliance at all times. Businesses can even secure significant investments from outside entities eager to inject additional funds to reap fiscal rewards through such commitments.

Checklist - Checklist of Udyog Aadhaar

Manufacturers and service providers who meet eligibility criteria may register under one program.

                  FAQ's

Not at all. MSME/UDYAM Registration Certificates are issued to one entity regardless of how many branches or plants it has. It is, however, necessary to provide information about multiple branches or plants.
While filling out the MSME registration form, the company's authorised signatory should provide the PAN and Aadhaar number.
A business must meet the government's investment or turnover limits to be eligible for MSME registration. Whether you are an LLP, a one-person company, or a Hindu joint family doesn't matter.
You must reapply for provisional registration if you haven't commenced your business within five years of receiving provisional registration. Alternatively, if you begin your business within those 5 years, you can apply for permanent registration.
Udyog Aadhar, SSI, and MSME registration are all the same thing. Registrations are now uniformly referred to as udyam.
